Installer/Owner Responsibility
- It is the responsibility of the owner/installer to inspect the flooring. It is also the owner/installer's responsibility to ensure the job site conditions, plus the job site sub-floors are environmentally and structurally acceptable prior to the beginning of the installation.
- Prior to installation, the owner and/or installer are responsible for the final inspection of materials and is encouraged to report any deficiencies in grade, manufacture and finish directly to the seller. Should an individual piece be in question or not meet standards, it should not be used.
- The owner and/or installer are responsible for ensuring that the proper installation conditions and appropriate sub-floors meet or exceed all NWFA industry standards. Proper installation can be affected by adverse moisture content in the floor product of in the local site conditions, humidity at the job site, acclimation process of flooring to the local job-site, preparation of the job site, preparation of the sub-floor and by the flooring layout. Acclimation of flooring to the local job site is critical. The sub-floor must also be clean, dry, flat and structurally sound.
- We recommend ordering 5% or more above the actual square footage requirements to allow for cutting and grading of material. Due to inherent variations with wood flooring product the installer must work out of 4-5 cartons simultaneously to ensure proper blending across the floor.
- Use an industry standard adhesive for wood flooring. Follow the installation guidelines of the adhesive manufacturer, which include spread rate, trowel size, open time, working time, and flash time as necessary.
- Install a sacrificial row along the edge of the working line and begin installation. Before finishing the installation, remove the sacrificial row and complete the installation. Alternatively, lay one row of plank in the adhesive along the entire length of the working line. Add each additional row of flooring. Maintain proper pattern repeat; distribute lengths avoiding "H" patterns and end joints less than 6 inches in adjacent runs. If needed, use tape or tensioners to maintain a tight floors.
- Expansion space should be left around the parameter. Typical expansion is equal to the thickness of the product installed.
- Roll the entire floor with a proper roller within 2 to 3 hours after installation.
